Kristina Keneally – a new direction for NSW
Kristina recognises that some things need to be done differently, so she is bringing a new approach to transport, health, education and our environment.
- She believes in the importance of our communities. She is listening to communities - to their concerns and aspirations - and is working to provide the transport, schools and services that allow our communities to thrive.
- She has a life-long passion for social justice. She wants NSW to be a place where all of us get a fair go, especially the less fortunate.
- She believes in hard work, and in making the most of every opportunity. This means working to achieve as much as she can for the people of NSW today, and working to create opportunities for NSW in the future.
Kristina’s background and family
Kristina’s grandmother and mother were Australian-born women who married American men. Kristina was raised and educated in the United States.
She continued her family’s long connection with Australia when she met and married a Sydneysider, Ben Keneally.
Sydney has been her home since 1994. Kristina and Ben are both working parents, raising their two boys, Brendan and Daniel.
Looking out for those who need a helping hand
Kristina’s parents taught her to help those in need in our community.
She worked a volunteer teacher for disadvantaged kids in the US and worked with St Vincent de Paul Society in Australia, helping young Sydneysiders transform their lives.
As Minister for Ageing and Disability services Kristina oversaw the largest increase in funding for disability services in NSW and announced the start of our State’s new child protection system – to better support vulnerable children and young people.
